We Should Stay Together
"Nigger" a term used widely and greatly amongst us brown
people. Passed down from generation to generation, carrying a curse
that was used to mark us beneath humans. A word that was used to
declare our inhumanity, and shun our cultural practice--is still used
greatly today amongst us brown people. Why? "Nigger" isn't
cool, it represents a position of no control; an ill mentality
brought upon our ancestors by those who thought they could control
our people. Many have fought for our freedom, they have fought for us
not to return back to our infamous past, and what do we do? Continue
to use these demeaning words. We suppress ourselves, and enslave
ourselves when we limit ourselves to what we are and were labeled. We
must grow from the conception,or idea, that saying this word is okay.
We must not press ourselves against what was carved out to be against
us; we must not conform to what was laid before us. Our humanity is
great! Each and every one of us has been enslaved in some way or
form--and in some way it has made us stronger, weak, pale, ill, and
most importantly, conscious. We are alive to inform ourselves that we
exist, we were made to be together; to comfort each other.
